Half Day for Teachers’ PL – Friday, December 20, 2019  – 老師在職訓練 半天

This is a reminder that Friday, December 20th will be a Half Day for Teachers’ PL Day. School will be dismissed at 11:30AM and the school buses will leave at 11:45AM.This is a system wide Professional Learning day for all teachers to meet, receive training, and learn from each other.
提醒您，12月20日(禮拜五)，學生只上半天課， 老師們下午有在職訓練 ，所以 11:30 放學， 11:45巴士離開學校。老師在職訓練日是給老師受訓, 互相觀摩學習的時間。

This is a reminder that Morrison Academy will be closed for Christmas Holiday Break from Monday, December 23 to Friday, January 3, 2020. We wish each MAK family a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful time with family! School will resume on Monday, January 6th, 2020!

MAK’s Secondary Christmas Concert
高雄馬禮遜國高中部年度春季音樂會

All MAK families and friends are welcome to attend the Secondary Christmas Concert today, Thursday, December 12th at 4:30pm!

***Please be reminded that there will be NO LATE BUS but we will have snacks for students playing in the concert. Students must be picked up before 6pm!

We hope you can all come out to enjoy the concert and support our fantastic musicians!

Reminder from the MAK Health Clinic ~ MAK 健康中心提醒：

If your child is sick, please keep them home. This helps protect your child and our school! Also, remind your younger and older child to continue good hand-washing with soap and water. Wash those hands at least 20 seconds!  如果您的孩子生病了，請留在家中。 這有助於保護您的孩子和我們的學校！ 另外，提醒您年齡較大的孩子繼續用肥皂和清水洗手。 洗手至少20秒！

High School Final Exams 高中期末考

High School final exams are coming up December 16-20! Please click on the following links to view the grade specific exam schedule: Grade 9 Schedule, Grade 10 Schedule, Grade 11 Schedule, Grade 12 Schedule. Thank you for encouraging your children to prepare well for these exams 🙂

Since Monday, December 16 is designated as a study day, we will have study groups, study halls, and teachers available for study helps at MAK to help students prepare for their finals.  Alternatively, students could also choose to study at home and use online tools to connect with teachers during that day. As parents, you can decide where your child will study on December 16.  

Here are the instructions we gave to High School students:

1) If you are on campus, you must be in the designated study hall location. 

2) You are not required to be at school except for exams, so if your parents want to bring you late/pick you up early, that is fine. (But you cannot leave in the middle of the day and return.)  

3) You may NOT leave campus without your parents picking you up unless you are taking the normal bus.

4) Snacks will be provided on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from your parents/PAC.  Enjoy the brain boost!

隨信附上本學期高中最後一週的行事曆。12月16日(一)這一天為自修日。當天，我們會有自修小組和個人自修時間，以及老師們會在學校內協助學生們準備期末考。同時，學生也可以決定當天是否要到校，或是在家自修及使用線上通訊軟體與老師們聯繫。您也可以自行決定您的孩子在當天是否到校自修。

以下是我們給高中生的規範：

1. 如果你選擇到校，你必須在指定的地點自修。
2. 除了考試時間以外，你不一定要到校。所以，如果你的父母可以配合你的時間接送，晚送早回都可以，但是請勿到校後離開又返回，重覆進出校園。
3. 若你的父母無法接送，請搭乘校車，並配合校車時間進出校園，不能擅自離校。
4. 家長和 PAC會在周二，週三和周四提供點心。請享受提供的點心！

MATH COMPETITION IS BACK! This year’s competition will be held on JANUARY 16TH & 17TH. The competition includes multiple-choice questions, team activities, and head-to-head rounds.  Grades K-3 will participate in non-competitive group activities. Grades 4-5 will be teamed up in collaborative group games but will also do individual tests. Middle schoolers will participate in both group and individual math activities. Top students from each middle school level will continue on to compete in the head-to-head contests.  We have had a blast in the past 6 years and we hope you will enjoy the upcoming one as well!
數學競賽又回來了！今年的比賽將於1月16日至17日舉行。比賽包括多選題，團隊活動和一對一決賽。 K-3年級將參加非競爭性的小組活動。 4-5年級會分成小組做一些團隊遊戲，但也會進行個別測試。中學生將參加小組和個人數學活動。每個中學部年級的頂尖學生將繼續參加完成一對一決賽。在過去的6年中，我們經歷了一場又一場精彩絕倫的數學競賽，希望您也會喜歡即將到來的競賽！

Morrison Academy Taichung Boarding Program Informational Meeting
台中馬禮遜學校住宿座談會

Living in a dorm while going to high school, is a unique program offered by Morrison Academy at our Taichung Campus.  On January 9th at 10:45 am, Boarding Director Dee Falk will be visiting MAK to share about the boarding program at MAC. All students and parents that are planning on applying to the dorm for the 2020-21 school year are required to attend this meeting.  Any other interested Parents and Students are welcome to join this meeting to learn more about the boarding program and high school at MAC.

On December 7 / 12月7日: Varsity Boys Basketball win vs AST  / 男子籃球隊對台中美國學校贏得勝利 (44-18), Varsity Boys Basketball loss vs Ivy High School / 男子籃球隊輸給常春藤高級高中(40-59)

On December 7 / 12月7日: 8th Boys Softball placed 2nd / 八年級男生壘球獲得第二名, 8th Girls Softball placed 2nd / 八年級男生壘球獲得第二名, other MS Softballs teams did not place / 八年級女生壘球獲得第二名，其餘年級沒有得獎
