In Kindergarten, the children aim to learn all of the letter sounds within the first 5 weeks of school. Then it's time to start reading some words! I am also excited about our new math program. It is full of fun activities and teaches number concepts in meaningful ways. For motor development, children are able to use a whiteboard and pen on a daily basis to practice writing (letters and numbers) before putting pencil to paper. Learning activities in Kindergarten are varied in nature; from whole group instruction on the carpet or at the desk to partner activities, interactive SMART board activities, working in learning centers and of course, individual seatwork.
This year we'll be working on a Scrapbook project this fall. Get your scissors and glue ready! This fall, we'll be carving pumpkins for Halloween. We will also be visiting our local firestation to learn about how fire fighters keep us safe. And in the Spring, there will be a tea party and trip to the Kaohsiung Zoo. Just before Easter we'll be decorating our own eggs. We'll also be traveling to our local dairy farm to study the process of getting milk.
Come and join in the fun at MAK kindergarten!
