Welcome to Second Grade! This year will be full of exciting adventures in learning. It is the last year of lower Elementary, so a new expectation is in place for quality and quantity of work in the classroom.
Three days a week we have 9th Grade reading buddies who spend time exploring the world of reading. Students grow in their literacy skills as they team up with older reading partners.
Sharpen your pencils! We will also be writing students from across the world! Our Pen Pal program will encourage kids to look at their writing style and compare it to students in another school. Not only will we learn, but we'll also develop global friendships.
In Social Studies, we will study global cultures. In Science, we will be looking at dinosaurs. Our learning will take on a 3-D aspect as we turn our learning into sculptures!
In Math, the Rocket Math method will be used to increase arithmatic skills. On the computer, we will use the World Math Day program to interact with competitors all around the globe as we solidify our math abilities.
This year, we will be learning how to navigate our Bibles. Students will tackle the book order of the Old and New Testaments to further improve the speed and accuracy of scripture location.
And if that weren't enough, we have exciting challenges and opportunities for our students in Art, Music, Chinese, and Physical Education!
